Student Profile - Jonathan Morris
MA Professional Studies in Childhood
I wanted to go into teaching because of the positive impact my teachers had on me and I wanted to have that same positive impact on others
Previously I had a BA (with Hons) from the University of Glamorgan and a PGCE Secondary in History at the University of Worcester. I had just begun my NQT year when I started my Masters at UCB.
I chose UCB because I had heard from others who had studied here that the atmosphere was friendly and supportive, not to mention the course looked very interesting and I thought it could help further my career in teaching.
I found the teaching to be of a very high standard and it was clear the staff had a passion for their subject areas from the interesting lectures and seminars they taught.
The support from the staff was outstanding! They always had time to listen and they were very friendly and enthusiastic.
I am now Head of Media Studies at King Edward VI Sheldon Heath Academy. The MA has been invaluable in helping me to not only progress in my teaching but provide me with the skills to effectively lead a department.
To anyone thinking of doing an MA, if you are committed to putting the effort into the course, don't mind a bit of hard work and want to make an investment for your future, then go for it, you won't regret it!
