Student Profile - Fang Wei (Flora)
MSc Hospitality with Tourism ManagementOutstanding Masters Student
The verdict from fellow students and lecturers was that Fang Wei should win the UCB HE Academic Award for most Outstanding Masters Student.
Fang Wei is currently on placement in Florida as part of her MSc Hospitality with Tourism Management and is having the most fantastic time by all accounts. She is based at Universal Studios working as an attractions attendant, meeting and greeting guests and helping to operate the rides.
Originally from China, Fang Wei studied a degree in Wales before moving to start the postgraduate course at UCB. Particular highlights for her include joining French classes, taking part in a wine appreciation course and of course making many new friends.
As to why she won the award, those who nominated her say she has many qualities including her willingness to help other people and her natural ability as a leader. When doing group work many looked to her for help and advice and Fang Wei was is always happy to support fellow students.
She also organises lots of social activities for classmates which go down exceptionally well!
As soon as she has finished her course, Fang Wei intends to return to China and look for work in the hospitality and tourism industries. If work arose in Hong Kong, Macau or other Asian countries she would happily consider that too with her ultimate aim being to establish her own business.
