Student Profile - Emma Osborn

I had applied for a couple of other hospitality courses, but as soon as I came here for an Open Day, it was such a friendly environment that I decided this was where I wanted to come.

The teaching on the course has been very informative and the lecturers have all been friendly and supportive.  The first year is very good for bringing everyone up to the same level, for the benefit of those who haven't studied hospitality before.

I lived in The Maltings halls of residence during my first year and I enjoyed it there so much I've stayed on for the rest of my time at UCB.  It is so central and convenient for everything that I didn't want to leave!

For my industrial placement I worked at a large hotel in Ireland where I spent six months in the restaurant and six months on reception, which was a really good way to relate what I had learnt at college.
