Transfers to UCB
At University College Birmingham we consider applications from students who have studied, or are currently studying, a Higher Education course and now wish to transfer. If you would like to be considered for a transfer onto one of our programmes, you will need to complete our online mapping application form.
Consideration for advanced entry will be dependent on the content of your (previous) studies, and how this matches to the content of the programme you wish to transfer to at University College Birmingham. Additionally the process will be dependent on the amount of credits achieved on your current programme. Where similar study is apparent, it may be possible for us to award accreditation for previous learning (APL) and therefore advanced entry onto a programme at UCB will be permitted. Please be aware due to the nature of this process all applications are considered on an individual basis.

Upon completion of your application
If you wish to transfer to the second, third or fourth year of a programme at University College Birmingham we will require you to send the following information to our Admissions Team (firstname.lastname@example.org).
1) A list of all modules and their Credit values - All Undergraduate degree programmes are measured in credits. For example, one full year of an undergraduate degree course carries a maximum of 120 credits; (modules size is indicated by the number of credits attained for each module, which can vary between 10 and 30 credits). Credit values aid institutions in the process of exempting students from repeating the same modules of study at a new institution.
2) Learning outcomes for each module – These are the key themes which outline the skills and knowledge areas a student should understand and have demonstrated through each module assessment. These are usually found in the module handbook for your programme.
If you have previously completed your study we will need you to send your Academic transcript which contains all of the information described in points 1 and 2. If you are currently studying we will evaluate your transfer based on points 1 and 2, we will also require you to send your Academic transcript to email@example.com upon completion of your current studies.
Upon receipt of all information we will liaise with the relevant academic departments in order to complete the mapping exercise. Upon completion of this process we will provide you with an official document which will contain details of all exemptions offered and your pre UCAS application offer.
There is no fee for applications for credit transfer but you must make sure that you allow enough time for your application to be considered. Applications for credit transfer normally take approximately two weeks to process.
What happens next?
Once you have received confirmation that the mapping application has been successfully submitted, your application will be processed by the admissions department, and may be sent to the course manager for consideration. Please note that your application cannot be considered without full documentation. Failure to provide these details/documents will delay the progress of your application
Once we have completed the mapping process we will inform you of our decision. You will then be asked to complete an official application through UCAS.
