Applied Food and Nutrition BSc (Hons)
I started a degree in media, cultural studies and TV broadcasting but it wasn’t for me. I had previously worked in a restaurant and went back there to work. I started going to the gym and I became more conscious of calories and what you eat. I looked for a food-related course and my mum found Applied Food and Nutrition at UCB. I love Birmingham and the course sounded great.
It covers a wide range of interests. You can study personalised diets and that appeals to me. I am interested in looking into hospitals and patients with eating disorders.
I found the course difficult at the beginning because I had not done any food-related study but after a while you get used to the terms. The group is great – like a big happy family. Everyone gets on and the staff are really good. If you email them for help they come straight back to you.
There is a relaxed atmosphere even though you have to learn all the time. If you need support, it is always there.
