Specialst Hair and Media Make-up
One of the reasons I chose UCB was because it was close to home and I have children. In my first year of the course I received so much information, it’s been such a learning curve and has prepared me for the industry. I enjoyed all of the course especially the prosthetics. The course covers the industry very well with great connections and many placement opportunities. The staff are very professional and have worked in the industry. They provide materials so you do not have to worry if you have forgot something or need something.
In regards to placements I have worked with Nancy Vuu, who designs couture for children. This involved working with lots of children and focused mainly on their hair. I loved this opportunity as it was about more than being a make-up artist, I learnt a lot and got the chance to put my skills into practice. I have also had the opportunity to work on theatre productions including Alice in Wonderland with Andrew White for 3 days at the Rep theatre. I have been doing a few jobs over the summer and I am currently working on a music video. I would like to be involved in more productions in the future.
If you have kids work and commute, it is possible, you can do it. Have a passion, enjoy it and make the most of it. Always be professional, positive and patient. Show that you genuinely care.
