I came to UCB when I was 16 to do professional cookery and went into industry to work as a chef. I saw Applied Food and Nutrition on UCB’s Facebook page and looked at the course on the website. I have always been interested in food and have done the cooking. Now I wanted to see what makes up food, how we eat it and the science behind food. I wanted to find out why we eat certain things. 

The subject is so engaging. I am fascinated by food and the lecturers have a lot of passion for the subject. All the content is well explained. 

When I started the course the terminology was new to me because I didn’t have a background in science. But now I feel I can have a science-based conversation with someone. 

The course will open doors to so many different careers. I am leaning towards teaching but I will let it take me where it takes me.
