Profile
I have a background in ladies hairdressing, retail and managing a city-centre staff restaurant. After a career break, I returned to study as a mature student before commencing employment at UCB in 1999. The first two years at UCB were spent as a library assistant at Summer Row Library which included time working in both the Resource Centre and the Research Centre. In 2001 my job role changed and I began working as the Subject Librarian for Hairdressing and Beauty Therapy, based at Richmond House Library. Following the development of the Sports Therapy and Specialist Hair and Media Make-up courses, I became the Subject Librarian for the School of Sport and Creative Services.
Teaching
I attend class tutorials for my school to promote library resources and offer advice. Alongside the other subject librarians, I have been running class sessions promoting library online resources to further education students, which have proved to be very popular with the students.
Research interests and scholarly activity
I am enthusiastic about promoting library services and resources and have contributed several library-related articles to Premier Cru. In addition to this, I enjoy attending external library conferences as part of my CPD and believe that the library and its resources should be accessible to all our students, including those entering via the non-traditional route.
