Profile
I have been Assistant Dean at University College Birmingham since 2004 and I also previously spent nearly six years as a Chef lecturer in the nineties. Responsibilities include the oversight and management of all kitchens, timetabling and management of staff, recruitment, enrolment, induction, attendance and discipline of all FE students. I also organise the activity/employability weeks and Young Chefs Academy with the placement officer. Maintaining strong links with industry are also an instrumental part and arranging major culinary competitions throughout the college year. I assist the ‘College of Food’ competition team wherever needed.
Teaching
I am active in teaching in both the Brasserie kitchen and fine dine Atrium lunch productions with VRQ Professional Chefs studying on Levels 2 & 3. Also the foundation year of the Royal Academy of Culinary Arts Apprenticeship programme. I also cover lectures as required.
External engagements
Representing the ‘College of Food’ at various events in both education and industry as an ambassador.
Other activities
Representing the College of Food and UCB at external events, recruitment and charitable events.
