MA Youth and Community Development
Fuelled by a burning desire to get into youth work, it made sense for Heena to follow up her BA in Childhood Studies at UCB with a master’s dedicated to this specialism.
“I never planned to do a masters, but, eventually, I chose to study for this MA and at UCB because of how much I was enjoying my undergraduate degree there,” she said.
“The most fantastic thing about it is the help and support that is available to students, and the commitment you are given by lecturers and other academic staff throughout.”
She said being able to put theory into practice was a key benefit of the course.
“I’m hoping to pursue a career in youth work, specialising in mental health, and this course has so many great modules that have opened my mind to different aspects of the profession. I have been able to increase my knowledge of the youth sector, while having the opportunity to put what I’ve learnt into practice.
“Youth work appeals to me because every day is different and there’s always something new to learn. There are aspects which are challenging, but helping to resolve young people’s problems is really rewarding.
I know UCB will help me achieve my goals. I just can’t wait to get started.
