International Student Barometer

University College Birmingham (UCB) has once again received highly positive feedback from our international students in the 2015/16 International Student Barometer survey.

The International Student Barometer (ISB) is an online questionnaire run by I-Graduate, an independent research company, and is the largest study of international student satisfaction in the world.  Indeed, the 2015/16 survey was based upon feedback from over 142,000 student respondents from 540 UK universities and 172 international Universities covering 18 countries. Four main elements of the international student experience comprise the survey: arrival, learning, living and support, and the ranking results for UCB reflect the outstanding international student experience offered at UCB along with improvements made over the last three years.

The survey results reveal that in 2015/16 UCB was ranked in the top 10 universities in the UK for:

  • Careers and employability
  • Earning Money
  • Work-Experience
  • Personal Tutors
  • Formal Welcome

Furthermore, in respect of UCB’s standing in the UK, the university was ranked in the top 10 for the five areas highlighted above,  whilst being ranked in the top 20 in the UK in a further 17 categories.

Particularly high scores received in questionnaire areas such as careers and employability advice, earning money and work-experience reflecting UCB’s position as a leading industry focused institution, with UCB being ranked number 1 in the UK and number 2 in the world for ‘earning money’. UCB scores particularly highly for the international student arrival experience and for student support.
