Hairdressing Level 2 & 3 Diploma
I love being a hairstylist and if someone wants their hair done they call my mum and say: “Can you send your daughter round?”
I came to an open day at UCB because I was told the college was really good and the standards are high. The people I spoke to were really open and nice. I felt that they made time for me.
I am really enjoying the course. There is theory and practical work in the salon at UCB. We learn about colouring hair, cutting hair, how to do a good blow dry and style hair. We also learn how to work with clippers for gents’ hair.
It’s a two year course and if I chose to do the Level 3 I want to get my own salon or go into the hair industry. In the first year, you learn the basics and in the second year you learn more technical stuff, so there is a good mix.
The college provides you with all the equipment. I like the fact we all wear the same uniform because we look smart. We pair up with Level 3 students and we learn from them in the commercial salon.
The staff talk to you straight, they don’t treat you like a kid, and I like that.
