Beauty Therapy Level 2 & 3 Diploma
I have always enjoyed doing make-up and I am interested in beauty. I thought about doing criminology at A Level but before I got my results I changed my mind. I didn’t want to be stuck in a classroom because it didn’t interest me. I wanted to do something practical.
Because I applied late to UCB, I had an interview just two weeks before the course started. I would advise people not to leave it as late as I did but UCB really helped me.
I started on Level 2 and liked it. We worked with clients from the beginning. You meet lots of different people and when you go into industry you know what to do. It is definitely not an easy course – you have to be determined and have the right mind-set to do it.
At Level 3, there are two routes – the traditional beauty therapy route and the spa route. All the teachers have been really good. They are very understanding and you can talk to them. They are all willing to help you, especially on the theory side. There is lots of support.
Not many courses offer epilation and once I leave college I could do advanced epilation and go on to work in hospitals or clinics, not just a salon. You learn lots of different skills you can use in different jobs.
