UK Government pledges funding support for EU students

October 2016

The UK Government has confirmed EU students applying for a place at university in the academic year 2017-2018 will continue to be eligible for student loans and grants for the duration of their course.

Students will be eligible for exactly the same funding and support as currently exists. The funding will continue throughout their course even if the UK exits the European Union during this period.

Professor Gary Wood, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic Affairs), said: “University College Birmingham welcomes the Government’s decision. EU students make an important contribution to the University and we are delighted this will continue. This announcement provides assurance to EU students that they will continue to receive student loans and grants for the duration of their course at UCB.”
