Universities UK - What's the Big Idea?

Is a national campaign highlighting the additional benefits universities offer to individuals and UK society as a whole.  

For the campaign week, 13th to the 19th June, there are themes for each day, two of which are Big Ideas for Society and Big Ideas for Business.

To help celebrate the achievements, we list here different ways that University College Birmingham contributes and makes a difference.

Big Ideas for Society

Celebrating student and staff volunteering and fundraising activities

Students

During the year many degree and foundation degree students organise fundraising or volunteer activities. Here are some examples:

• Salon Business Management students stage fashion show to raise money for Birmingham Children's hospital
• Marketing and Events Management students host fun events and raise thousands of pounds for charity
• Adventure Tourism Management students travel to Gambia to help Wednesbury charity
• Sports Therapy students offer free treatments at major sports events
• Events Management students go back to the 40’s to raise money
• Funds raised for British Heart Foundation in memory of a friend

UCB Staff

• Find out how UCB Staff get involved with fundraising and volunteer their time to local groups and societies.
