Chef Lecturer's Prize for Dedication
Congratulations go to chef lecturer Mike Edwards, who has won a prestigious award for his dedication to the hospitality industry.
Mike has been named as the winner of the British Culinary Federation's Robert J Smith Award which is given to individuals in recognition of their professionalism and dedication to the hospitality industry and their support of the Federation’s work.
He was nominated for the award primarily because alongside his work as a chef lecturer, Mike spends time mentoring student chefs in the college’s competition team, including last year leading Junior Team England to 2 Silver medals and a 4th place victory in the Culinary World Cup in Luxembourg.
Neil Rippington, Dean, College of Food at University College Birmingham said:
“Mike is a dedicated professional who has great skill for guiding and encouraging students, which has led to many successes in national and international competitions. It is great news that he has won this award and gained further recognition from the British Culinary Federation. Our congratulations go to him for his hard work”.
Mike was presented with his award at a ceremony and dinner at the Hilton Metropole Hotel at the NEC Birmingham.
