Students Meet Culinary Stars

IMG1581James Martin and Alain Roux Jnr were in college recently to judge the regional final of the Roux Scholarship competition.

Six professional chefs entered the competition and had two and a half hours to cook a monkfish main dish followed by a dessert they had to create from a mystery basket of ingredients.

Former Roux scholar, Steve Love who owns and runs Love’s restaurant in Birmingham joined James Martin and Alain Roux to judge the skills of the contestants. 

Two winning chefs, Mark Birchall from L’Enclume, Cumbria and Richard Edwards from Lucknam Park hotel & Spa, Wiltshire were chosen to enter the grand final in London in April.

James Martin and Alain Roux chatted to chef students who called in to watch the competitors in action.
