Culinary Arts Alumni Return to Talk about their Careers
Twenty five Alumni from the Culinary Arts Management Degree programme came back to college recently to talk about their jobs and careers since leaving University College Birmingham.
The annual event gives students currently studying on the Culinary Arts Management programme an opportunity to hear about the type of jobs former students have gained and how the subjects they studied helped them in their career.
The diverse range of jobs they have gone on to included teaching, head chef, product development chef, restaurant manager in areas of the industry that include 2 rosette exclusive restaurants, gastro-pubs, family dining and contract catering.
Everyone gave a short account of their career path, many commenting that the modules they had found particularly useful since graduating were finance, marketing, business operations and human resources management. Experiences gathered on the placement year were also highly favoured.
After the individual presentations the graduates and students networked whilst enjoying a hot buffet meal in the college’s Brasserie Restaurant.
Culinary Arts year manager and lecturer Holly Bamunuge said:
“It is always great to welcome back former students and inspiring for current students to hear about their lives since leaving college. The Culinary Arts teaching team are very proud of their achievements and congratulate them on their determination to succeed in their chosen fields of work. Many thanks to all of them for taking the time and trouble to come back and see us again."
