Progression Agreement boosts Children's Services

UCBBBSSIGNINGPeople working in Children’s Services in Sandwell will benefit from a new agreement with University College Birmingham to help boost qualifications.

UCB has signed a Progression Agreement with Sandwell Metropolitan Borough Council (MBC) and the Birmingham Black Country and Solihull Lifelong Learning Network (BBCS LLN) which aims to promote higher education opportunities in Children’s Services.

As part of the agreement, UCB has developed two new credit bearing modules 'Behavioural Support' and 'Management and Finance in Early Years Provision'

Both courses will be delivered in the academic year 2010/2011 and students completing them will be guaranteed an interview on relevant courses offered by UCB

Danielle Carey, Dean of Childhood and Education at UCB, said: “We are delighted to work in collaboration with Sandwelll MBC. The benefits for students on these programmes will, hopefully, be able to be seen in the workplace to enhance the services available to children and young people.”

The signing took place at the Council Offices in Sandwell on September 9, and was attended by members of staff from UCB, Sandwell MBC and Birmingham Black Country and Solihull LLN.
