Bakery Students in Swiss Adventure
5 UCB Bakery students recently sampled life at a Swiss Bakery School after winning scholarships and bursaries for their trip. Jameela Ismaeel, Michelle Baker and Mitchell Floyd won California Raisins ‘Future Baker’ awards and Rebecca Thompson and Miranda Holmes were given bursaries by The Worshipful Company of Bakers.
Accompanied by Bakery Lecturer, Cyril Scorse, the 5 students travelled to Switzerland to the Richemont Bakery School on the banks of Lake Luzern and participated in 3 full days of training in bread and confectionery. Alongside the formal training they had the opportunity to sample life as a student in Luzern; taking meals in the school and visiting local bread and confectionery shops.
A good time was had by all and the participating students had lots of ideas to bring back to their studies and fellow students in Birmingham.
