Theatrical and Media Make-Up Students Tread The Boards
Theatrical and Media Make-Up Level 3 Diploma students have embarked on their first real-life performance with the dress rehearsals of Mary Stuart at the Crescent Theatre in Birmingham.
The course, which is in its first year, attracted a record number of applicants keen to get a chance in the competitive world of theatre and media make-up; one of the unique elements of the course is its exposure to real live projects right from the start.
With Costume Designer, Anne Curry, teaching a Creative Studies Module the students learnt all about the play and went on to research the story and make-up from the Elizabethan era.
The production of Mary Stuart will run from 6 th – 13 th November and will see a number of students, assisted by lecturers Tsai Lovett, Sue Bedford, Elise Phillips and Janet Dancer, providing the make-up and hair for the 3 main female characters, including the elaborate make-up and wig of Queen Elizabeth, played by actor Naomi Gilbert.
Future theatrical productions include Dad's Army at The Crescent and a Youth Theatre production at The Hippodrome.
