UCB Staff Raise Funds for Charity

pinkStaff at University College Birmingham raided their wardrobes last week to find something pink to wear and raise funds to fight breast cancer.

A variety of pink shirts, cardigans, ties, trousers and even hair! brightened up the staff rooms and lecture theatres of UCB and the pink theme didn’t end there; with Bakery lecturer Dawn Gemmell baking 400 pink frosted cup cakes with proceeds from the sale of them also going to the Breast Cancer Campaign.

Breast Cancer Campaign uses all wear it pink donations to fund innovative, world-class research throughout the UK and Ireland to understand how breast cancer develops, leading to improved diagnosis, treatment, prevention and cure.

A grand total of £233.67 was raised through the cake sales and participating staff donating £2 each, leaving organiser and Personnel Officer Theresa Burr feeling ‘in the pink’!
