Beauty student triumphs at UK Skills

Beauty Therapy National Diploma student, Nicola Webb recently competed in the Intermediate category of the UK Skills Regional Awards 2010.

She was selected to enter the competition after winning a UCB internal competition. Louise Gould, a Beauty Therapy lecturer, noticed Nicola's ability during a number of treatments; a facial, manicure and half leg wax, "Nicola had something very special and really stood out from the crowd" said Louise.

After vigorous one to one training with Louise Gould, Nicola felt confident and excited to compete, "The opportunity was fantastic and I felt very proud to be involved". The competition saw Nicola perform a range of treatments including a facial, a manicure and day make up. She ultimately triumphed as a Bronze winner, competing against 12 other students in the regional final, "I felt very happy and emotional as this was my first beauty competition I have taken part in" said Nicola.

Since this achievement, Nicola has aspirations to compete in further competitions and continue on to an Undergraduate programme in Salon Business Management at UCB. "I have had a brilliant time at UCB, the tutors have been really supportive and the opportunities I have been given will really help me in my future career".
