UCB Publishes Employabilty Statement
UCB are pleased to announce that the UCB Employability Statement is now available to potential and existing students of the institution.
UCB has a well developed reputation for delivering educational opportunities that are both highly vocational and relevant to the contemporary needs of industry. The production of the Employability Statement makes it very clear that UCB students have access to a very wide range of opportunities to develop their employability skills and potential while studying at the institution.
In the course of pulling together the Statement a number of key features were identified and these include:

In the Tourism Management curriculum area student undertake a ‘live project’ module, working with a range of international businesses. Students are required to develop the brief with the client and apply project management techniques to deliver a workable solution. Students also have access to a programme of guest speakers from industry who can give a real time perspective on their chosen career path.

Placements and Work Experience: a wide variety of organisations and locations offered to BA and FdA students studying hospitality management sandwich courses. Students on non sandwich courses are also offered similar opportunities to undertake an optional placement. Where placements are not an integral part of the programme, a period of work experience is required alongside the core curriculum.

The Careers & Employability team, which has recently retained the Matrix quality standard for information, advice and guidance services, assists students to further develop their skills by undertaking part time employment whilst studying, participating in volunteer work and/or completing short term contract work with employers. The Service is highly regarded by the students who access their services.

UCB has a developing culture of enterprise and entrepreneurship delivered both within the curriculum and as extra-curricula events. Entrepreneurship is recognised as a very effective way of developing employability skills and equipping graduates for the requirements of the workplace.
