Cook and Serve Team of the Year
3 UCB students from course of both Higher and Further Education have been rated the best in the UK in a prestigious national catering competition, designed to identify future stars.
Helen Evans (3 rd Year BA Culinary Arts Management), Nathan Hale (Diploma in Professional Cookery Level 3) and Melanie Harris (NVQ 3 Hospitality Supervision) won the British Culinary Federations ‘Student Challenge Cook and Serve Team of the Year’ sponsored by Brakes, also picking up the ‘Best Kitchen’ prize as well.
The competition, held in Stratford Upon Avon, saw the team from University College Birmingham go head to head with 8 other colleges in front of a panel of judges including Chef and Chairman of the Judges Lee Corke (pictured far left) then served to lucky diners including Sarah Igglesden from Brakes (pictured far right).
It’s been a great few weeks for Helen as she was also Awarded a Silver award overall at the Wessex Salon Culinaire part of Worldskills UK, held in Bournemouth.
