'Sweet Success' for HE Award Winners

Degree and postgraduate students from University College Birmingham gathered at the Copthorne Hotel recently to celebrate at the annual Higher Education Prize presentation evening.

The event is organised by hospitality degree students and local and national businesses sponsor the prizes, which are given for a range of student achievements including highest grades and best performance on industrial placement.

Prizes included trophies, books, meals and overnight stays at leading hotels and restaurants, gift vouchers and cheques.

Following the presentation, guests made their way back to UCB for a ‘Sweet Success’ themed buffet featuring canapés, hot dish selections and a chocolate fountain.  

Professor Ray Linforth, Principal, UCB said:

“The HE Awards is one of the highlights of our academic calendar. It’s an occasion where we take special pride in the accomplishments of our students and share, with their family and friends, the delight as they receive their prizes.

I would also like to thank our sponsors for their continued support. These are difficult times as the economy slowly moves out of a recession and we are very grateful that businesses still feel able to support this event”.
