Inspire 2010

University College Birmingham has this week seen its third Inspire event which provides students with a college-wide platform to share and inspire others with their experiences.

This now annual event has in the past 3 years included many great stories from Further and Higher Education students: on their achievements in competitions, on placements and on exchange programmes; impacting the lives of others via voluntary work and activities; establishing successful businesses and planning and executing overseas expeditions.

The 2010 event was no exception and saw Ben Ebbrell (Culinary Arts Management Graduate 2009) update us on his Sorted career, Sophie Drake BSc (Hons) Sports Therapy talk about Volunteering & Good Citizenship and Deepak Riat FdA Sports Management tell us about his involvement in martial arts and its drive towards friendship and co-operation.

Petrina Johnson BA (Hons) Hospitality Business Management was on next and told us about her Success in the Young Guns and Savoy Mentoring Scheme's with the final presentation of the day coming from BA (Hons) Adventure Tourism Management students who entertained us with tales of the Challenges & Experiences they gained in recent expeditions to Peru, Ecuador, the Galapagos Islands, Belize and Wales.

Running alongside the presentations was Front of House Table Theatre from Hospitality students, Hair demonstrations, Sports Therapy demonstrations, Cake Decoration displays and posters showing many other students experiences. Everyone is looking forward to Inspire 2011 – to find out about our courses and perhaps find yourself inspiring others in the future visit our course pages here.
