Hair Students Fly Away
A group of Level 3 Hairdressing students will fly to Nice this week to spend 3 life changing weeks living and working in the South of France. The trip has been made possible through the Leonardo Scheme’s ‘Mobility Programme’ which provides funding for vocational students to participate in work experience across Europe.
Shaan Patel, Tamiah Thomas, Lilija Mirzajeva, Boguslawa Maria Sik, Miranda Felix Rose English, Louisa Byers and Natalie Wilson have been taking French lessons for the last term and will have a few days to acclimatise themselves to their new surroundings before their 2 weeks work placement in local hairdressing salons in Nice and Cannes begin.
Joined by Lecturers Carol Moore and Leigh Perry a programme of cultural and social activities have been planned, not least to celebrate the 18th birthday of Shaan which is whilst they are on the trip. Activities organised include a trip to Grasse on the French Riviera which is considered to be the ‘Worlds Perfume Capital’, an evening visit to the Cannes film festival on the night of the premiere of Robin Hood, starring Russell Crowe, also fitting in a trip to Monte Carlo before flying back at the end of May.
We’ll report back on the trip upon their return. If you want to find out more about hairdressing as a career visit the course pages here.
