UCB recently welcomed Glen Harrison, Group Training Officer of Concord Hotels, who visited UCB to promote their Management Training Scheme to students. The programme is an excellent one as it provides hands on paid management training and Concord Hotels are always keen to recruit from UCB.

Whilst here he took time to fill us in on the continued fortunes of three former NVQ 3 Hospitality Supervision Students: Craig Carter currently at the Barcelo Basingstoke Country Hotel, Tennyson Edwards at St Pierre Park Hotel, Guernsey and Gordon Campbell at the Victoria Hotel in Sidmouth. Originally from Birmingham, all three were offered places on the programme on completion of their studies here at college.

Glen commented on each of the three students:

Craig is now on his final 6 month placement of the two year programme and has matured greatly and has done very well.  The hotel where he is currently on placement have expressed an interest in discussing full time employing him upon completion.

Gordon is just Gordon! Everybody loves him. Nothing has been too much trouble or effort at all. He has been excellent, we're extremely positive about him being offered a position within the group when he completes in the summer.

Tennyson has settled well into his first 6 month placement in Kitchen Operations at our hotel in Guernsey and is fitting in well with the team.

Good luck to all three of them and we will be following their careers with interest.
