Going Going Gone
Clare Dillon has had her long hair cut short for charity with the help of Lilija Mirajeva, an NVQ Level 3 hairdressing student at University College Birmingham. On Monday 29 March, Clare, whose hair was down to her hips, watched it fall to the floor as Lilija cut her a fashionable new short style.
Clare who is 23 and works as a shop assistant, is donating her hair to the Little Princess Trust , a charity which organises wigs for young girls who have cancer.
Friends and family sponsored Clare to have her hair cut and through this Clare also raised money for the Florence Home Foundation , a charity in India which works with street children and young people.
Carol Moore, hairdressing lecturer at University College Birmingham said: "We are delighted to have helped Clare with her admirable fundraising efforts. Our student enjoyed demonstrating her cutting skills, especially as this was an unusual situation and Clare’s new style looks stunning."
