UCB Apprentice Meets Marco Pierre White

UCB apprentice meets Marco Pierre WhiteRyan Jones, Apprentice Chef at University College Birmingham couldn’t believe his luck when he was invited to attend a master class with Michelin starred chef Marco Pierre White at his London restaurant Wheelers .

Representing the Midlands, 17-year-old Ryan from Dudley was one of 15 budding chefs from across the country who spent the morning in the restaurant kitchen, learning how to prepare a range of dishes from the a la carte menu.

An ex-apprentice himself and the youngest chef ever to have been awarded three Michelin stars, Pierre White is a keen advocate of Apprenticeships, and recommends aspiring chefs to seriously consider taking one. So much so, he is now starring in a new advertising campaign for Apprenticeships.

For Ryan, the master class has given him a day to remember and tips he can try out now back in Birmingham. Throughout the morning, Pierre White gave an insight into his experience as an apprentice, advising Ryan and the others on how to enhance their prospects.

Ryan says it was a day he’ll never forget:

"It’s been a great experience to be able to work with Marco and it was amazing to go up the Gherkin where ‘Wheelers' is situated. I feel lucky to have been chosen and lucky to be an apprentice."
