Ironman 2009

Another happy customerSports Therapy Team offered their services at the Tri UK Ironman 2009, an international event held in Bolton, Lancashire. The team from University College Birmingham comprised of 22 students and they worked non-stop from 3pm till 11pm getting through over 350 incredible athletes ranging from professionals to the first timers.

All of the athletes were glad to be in safe hands once their gruelling race had finished; held over 140.6 miles it included a 2.4 mile swim, a 112 mile bike and finishing off with a 26.2 mile run.

Hannah Boardman, UCB Sports Therapy Lecturer told us, "Some of the competitors could barely drag themselves onto the couches at the end of it." Sports Therapy students have offered their services at a number of events this year including the London Marathon and the Birmingham Half Marathon.
