UCB students on the Finish Line
57 Sports Therapy students from University College Birmingham students recently helped very grateful charity runners at the end of the London Marathon. They worked with around 15 charities from Save the Rhinos to The Children's Trust. Setting up outdoor Sports Clinics on the side of The Thames they treated over 500 runners.
Accolades from the charities involved have been outstanding, a selection follow:
"Thank you so much to the Birmingham students who kindly volunteered their time and expertise to help our charity runners recover after the 2009 London Marathon. The massage was gratefully received by our weary runners and the students were a fantastic benefit to have at our post race celebration."
Olivia Zinzan. Save the Children
"What a team! They were absolute superstars and greatly appreciated. I really just can’t express how professional they all were and worked so very hard. Please can you thank each of them for giving up their Sunday to help The Children's Trust. The massage therapists you provided were all extremely professional and well presented. Some of our runners had a very emotional day as they have either had children at The Trust who have recently passed away or their children are still with us, but your therapists dealt with everyone in a very appropriate manner. We’d love to have you onboard next year."

UCB Sports Therapy students have also attended a variety of other sporting events this year, including the Great North Run, Jitsu Nationals and the Birmingham Half Marathon and plan to be soothing aching limbs at Iron Man UK in the summer.
