UCB student shows us how

Hannah with pupils in FijiSecond year BSc Food and Consumer Management student, Hannah Greenough is working hard to provide sports equipment for children in Fiji. On behalf of her Birmingham Brownie Unit she has been collecting Sainsburys vouchers for an international sport pack – which will be sent out on their behalf. Aiming for 5000 active kids vouchers, this will provide cricket sets, footballs and netballs to the Lovoni Fijian School, Lovoni Village, Ovalau Island, Fiji.

Hannah worked at the school as a primary school teacher, during her gap year, before starting at University College Birmingham. The island that the school is on is an extinct volcanic crater and whilst it has beautiful natural resources it has few of the resources that schools in the UK take for granted; only recently receiving an electricity supply for the first time. 100 of the village children between the ages of 5 and 15 years old attend the school.

So far Hannah has collected 3000 vouchers from UCB staff and friends and family and are on target to send out the sports pack which will be posted out to the school in July.
