University College Birmingham 'out and about'

Travel and Tourism students in belly dancing displayAs well as their usual rounds of school visits and open days our Further Education Liaison officers, Lisa Collins and Jane Titcumb, have been attending some high profile events across the region.

Solihull’s Touchwood shopping centre was the setting for a lifestyle event, encouraging shoppers to explore a change of direction, a week in the centre saw visitors of all ages stop by for information about courses and a taste of what the college had to offer.

Skills West Midlands saw thousands of 16-19 year olds descend on Coventry's Ricoh Arena to explore career and training options in a wide range of areas. UCB's stand played host to chef demonstrations, beauty treatments and Life Choice (interactive computerised) babies to represent childcare courses. On stage, the Travel and Tourism students put on a Butlins Red Coat style dance routine.

Next stop is BRMB's Hair and Beauty event being held at Birmingham's Hyatt Hotel on Saturday April 4th with Lisa and Jane again taking Student Ambassadors to talk about both FE and HE courses in hair and beauty. The stand will also provide visitors with a taste of the courses on offer with mini manicures and a chance to try hairstyling themselves.

Lisa and Jane also organise taster days, work experience and practical demonstrations. For more information, visit our Meet Us page.
