Culinary Arts Management careers event

Networking in full swingA recent Culinary Arts Management (CAM) careers evening saw 18 past student return to UCB to share the stories of their careers since graduating from CAM courses. Alumni gave brief presentations about where they are now and how their course helped to get them there; to over 80 students at all stages of the course.

The variety of careers that a CAM qualification can lead to was certainly apparent with Trainee Restaurant Manager, Demi Chef de Partie, Trainee Course Tutor, Pastry Chef, Creative Development Technologist, Guest Services officer and Executive Head Chef amongst the job titles of attendees.

Refreshments in the Brasserie restaurant gave students past and present time to mingle and network, contacts were made, part-time jobs discussed and new career ideas were explored making the event a overall success.

4th year CAM student, Simon Chiremba, said "I found the evening to be extremely beneficial to all CAM students, from 1st to 4th year. It provided a look into the different fields past students have gone into and also gave us chance to ask questions and find out more. I believe it always good to see and hear what past students are doing and have done from the people themselves, it’s easier to relate to seeing that they have come through the same course and foundation that I have."
