Students shine at national beauty awards

Natalie Ward with her winner’s trophyTwo beauty students competed in regional finals of the UK Skills National Awards 2007 (Beauty Section) Natalie Ward BTEC 2nd year competed in the intermediate category and Victoria Cartwright who completed her studies in June of 2007 in the advanced category.

The competition saw both students performing an in-depth consultation then carrying out a range of treatments including a full body massage, a manicure and pedicure as well as a range of electrical treatments.

Both won gold, competing against 12 other students in the regional final and went through to the national finals in Peterborough where Natalie won gold and both girls were selected for short listing for the 2009 World Skills Championship in Calgary, Canada. Natalie received her award at an awards ceremony in Manchester in early December.

Victoria Cartwright at work at Indigo SpaNatalie and Victoria will both be mentored in the run-up to the 2009 qualifiers by the Vocational Training Charitable Trust (VTCT).

Victoria is now working for Indigo Spa in Solihull , carrying out a range of treatments and continuing to expand her skills.

We'll be following both their progress in the run-up to the 2009 qualifiers.
