Bakery student wins national cake competition

Francesca Tomkins and her winning cake designCongratulations to Level 2 bakery student Francesca Tomkins who is a national winner.

In the fabulous surroundings of Mossimans in London recently, Francesca was announced the winner of the Kenwood 60th Anniversary Cake Competition.

She beat off rivals from four other colleges and schools to win a cookery course for two and a fabulous Kenwood chef premier mixer.

Judges were impressed with the taste of Francesca's cake and the colourful creative design which featured various number 60's in the shape of steam coming from a tea cup and iced biscuits around the edge along with the Kenwood logo.

"Francesca is a hard working, creative student and we are delighted at her success in this national competition" said Dawn Gemmell, Head of Bakery at the College.

Francesca originally won £250 for winning the regional final plus a Kenwood Chef machine for the College.
