Rueben meets the studentsEvents Management degree students at University College Birmingham got a taste of what it takes to be a top Master of Ceremonies following a visit from popular professional Toastmaster, Rueben Simoen Lynch.

The students are currently learning about support services available when organising an event and Rueben highlighted the variety of skills and services he as a toastmaster could offer.

Rueben who has over 15 years experience as a toastmaster talked to the first years students of his experience at a range of events including product launches, conferences, charity balls and awards ceremonies.

Outlining the qualities needed to be a toastmaster, Rueben said. "The secret of success is to be confident, learn to judge an audience, project your voice and greet everyone with a natural smile".

Sarah Edwards, Events Management lecturer at the College said:

"Rueben was great fun and gave excellent examples of the importance of good customer etiquette and how a toastmaster can add a different and special touch to an event. Students need to have a range of skills that will enable them to become effective event managers and customer care is just one of those essential skills".
