Chefs on TV

A group of NVQ Level 3 chef students made their TV debut recently when they appeared on the popular Channel 5 TV programme The Gadget Show.

The Gadget Show is a consumer testing programme covering a whole range of products and under the microscope for this episode were kitchen gadgets.

The show presenters Jon Bentley, Jason Bradbury and Suzi Perry enlisted the help of the students to test a kettle that boils in 3 seconds, a portable microwave powered by a car battery and a food fryer that only needs one tablespoon of oil to cook chips.

The filming took place in the College's demonstration kitchen. After testing each gadget the students voted the 3 second kettle to be the most effective and would be the one they would most likely buy.

The College featured on the Gadget Show last year when bakery students tested toasters.
