Students to show Hairdressing techniques
The College will be welcoming people from across the city to its annual Black Hairdressing Open Day, which takes place on Monday, October 15.
The event, organised to mark Black History Month, offers the opportunity to explore a range of free hairdressing treatments, especially for those with black and curly hair, carried out by students on the College's NVQ Hairdressing course.
Treatments including blow-drying, perming, plaiting, conditioning and relaxation techniques will be available.
Live demonstrations and consultations will be ongoing throughout the day in the College's state-of-the-art salons. Product information and samples will also be available from black and curly hair product specialists.
Hairdressing lecturer Elaine Connolly said: "This will give students the chance to demonstrate treatments they have already learned, or are in the process of learning, in a commercial salon environment.
"They will be supervised by teaching staff at all times, and it will also give them the opportunity to work alongside the representatives from industry who will be here."
The event will take place in The Spa, at the College's Richmond House site in Newhall Street, between 10am and 5pm. All ages are welcome, although children must be accompanied by an adult.
