Jazz night to benefit charity appeal
A student from the College is helping to organise a jazz concert which will help victims of floods in Asia.
Daniel Gabriel, who is studying BA (Hons) Marketing with Events Management at the College, has teamed up with friend Alan Baker to arrange the show at Stafford's Gatehouse Theatre, as part of the nationwide Oxjam music festival.
The show will feature alternative Jazz and Blues act Rachel Rimmer and Two Tonne Soul, with a support act to be confirmed.
The festival is being coordinated by the charity Oxfam, to raise funds for the millions of people affected by the recent heavy rains in India, Bangladesh and Nepal.
Daniel said: "I decided to get involved in Oxjam since it was for a very good cause, and it was also a chance to do something I enjoyed.
"I had worked with a group at College to put on a live rock music event as part of my course last year and I was keen to do it again, but this time aiming at a slightly different market.
"We've already sold enough tickets to just about break even, so any further sales will all go towards raising money for the appeal."
The event will take place on Saturday, October 27, at 7.30pm and tickets cost £20, including food and entertainment. There will also be a raffle, with prizes donated by local businesses.
