College hosts Early Years conference

College Early Years Co-ordinator Joan Hendy speaks at the eventThe College welcomed a group of Early Years professionals to an event last week, which discussed forthcoming changes to the curriculum for young children.

Around 100 guests, working for public sector and private education providers in the West Midlands to hear guest speaker Jan Lepley talk about proposals for the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum.

The proposals, which come into force in September 2008, will be a single framework for care, learning and development for children in all registered early years settings and schools from birth to the end of the reception class.

Knowledge Transfer manager Deborah Kendale said: "The event was organised to help people working in nurseries understand what they need to do and answer any questions or concerns they may have had.

"It was also an opportunity for guests to network with each other. We were fully booked and it was a very successful event."

The College organised the event following a request from members of our Childhood and Education Industrial Liaison board – a group of industry representatives which advises the College on the content of its courses in that subject.
