School pupils get taste of the action

College chef students Muntakim Ali and Shaney Ayre with pupils Amy Moore, Sinead Halpin and Channola WilliamsYear 10 pupils at Frankley Community High School were shown what it takes to be a chef by students from the College, as part of a job taster day at their school.

First on the menu was a chicken stir fry demonstration followed by a Ready Steady Cook style competition where volunteer pupils battled against each other.

The taster day, which was held at the School, was organised by Education Business Links.

Linzi Sandbrook, Schools Liaison Officer, Birmingham College of Food and Tourism said: "The pupils had great fun and it gave them an insight of what it is like being a chef.

"It takes two years to gain chef qualifications and with those skills you can enjoy a fantastic career that could take you around the world. Hopefully some of the pupils may consider a career in catering."
