Sports Therapy skills put to the test at Marathon
Students on the College's Sports Therapy programmes once again put their skills to the test by providing support to athletes running the recent London Marathon.
Around 30 students offered post-event massage to individuals running for four different charities - Hearing Dogs for the Blind, the Parkinson's Disease Society, Kidney Research UK and Breakthrough Breast Cancer.
The College has previously offered its services to runners at the London Marathon and the Great North Run, and has kept in touch with some of the charities, returning to help them each year.
Lecturer Rob Di Leva said: "It's a very good experience for the students to work on such a high-profile event, dealing with a large number of athletes during the day.
"As well as helping them with their course here, it will also be great for them when they're going for jobs in the future, to have on a CV that they have this level of practical knowledge."
This year's marathon saw a record 36,396 people taking part, with runners battling temperatures of up to 23 degrees centigrade.
