Students in visit to sports training camp

A group of around 25 second and third-year students spent five days at Club La Santa in Lanzarote, which featured provision for indoor and outdoor sports, including windsurfing, volleyball, badminton and weightlifting.

They also learned about fitness systems like Pilates, where they saw the importance of concepts such as stability and muscle control, and how they affected athletes’ performance.

Lecturer Rob Di Leva said: "The camp offers quality facilities in a variety of sports, and is used by professional athletes.

"The students really embraced and participated in all the activities - anything from an early morning swim to an aerobics class, a volleyball game or a triathlon.

"This was the first time we'd run this visit, but we're already planning to return and quite a few of the students who went this year have talked about returning for another visit, or for a job."
