Top young chefs compete at College

James Tanner will be among the judgesThe College will be playing host to some of the country's top student chefs next week when it hosts the prestigious Nestlé Toque d’Or competition.

The four colleges taking part - from Blackpool, Bristol, Ayr and Devon - will each take over the Brasserie restaurant for one day, between Tuesday, April 24, and Friday, April 27.

Their efforts will be judged by a panel of top chefs, including James Tanner, who regularly features on the BBC's popular Ready Steady Cook and Saturday Kitchen shows.

Guests who have booked to eat at the College’s restaurants at lunchtime over the course of the four days will get the chance to enjoy the special menus.

Each team will have just one day to turn their Place To Eat concept into a reality, taking ownership of their restaurant to prepare, cook and serve 100 covers to members of the paying public.

The winning team will get to take part in a study tour to Johnson & Wales University in North Carolina, USA, and the winning team's college and each of the three runners-up will receive catering equipment for their institution.
