Successful trip for our sports teams
Sportsmen and women from the College are celebrating after another great performance at the annual Calellafest sports festival in Spain.
The men's and women's football teams won the plate for their sport, while the netball team were unlucky to lose to the three-times champions in the final. The men’s rugby side also reached the final, while the mixed hockey team finished third in their group.
This year's successes keep UCB in the top five institutions in the UK for all-time Calellafest wins, with six wins in five years of attendance at the inter-university sports event.
The College was among the founding members of the Calellafest, and has remained one of its biggest supporters, with around 180 students heading out to the Spanish town of Calella, on the Costa Brava, this year.
As well as a chance to compete against teams from other British universities, they also had plenty of time to meet other students at various social events.
Guild president Anthony Sargent said: "All in all, it was one of the best weeks of our lives and we're now all counting down to next year."
