Youngsters get a taste of College courses
Potential students were given a chance to gain hands-on experience of courses at the College during a major exhibition at the NEC recently.
Skills West Midlands, which is the largest interactive careers event in the region, gave thousands of young people the chance to explore career and education options for when they leave school.
Visitors to the College's stand were able to find out about courses in catering, hospitality, sport and tourism. Practical activities included a challenge to spend £1million on holidays and demonstrations of napkin folding.
A group of beauty students from the College painted the nails of visitors and provided hand massages, while the bakery department demonstrated cake decoration techniques on gingerbread men.
Schools liaison officer Linzi Sandbrook said: "It was a very successful event and we were able to give out information on our courses to a large number of visitors over the two days.
"Putting on the practical demonstrations was a good way to show prospective students the types of activities they would be able to get involved in at our College."
The College was exhibiting at the event alongside education and training providers from across the Midlands and beyond, as well as potential employers. Thousands of youngsters, aged between 14 and 19, attended the event - many in organised groups from schools in the area.
