Top award for former Bakery student
A former NVQ Bakery student at the College has scooped a prestigious award from City and Guilds in recognition of her exceptional work during her time on Level 3 of the course.
Nicole Chavda has received a City & Guilds Medal of Excellence for outstanding performance in the Processing and Manufacturing sector, after a portfolio of her work was viewed by the organisation's judging panel.
She was given her medal and certificate by England women's indoor cricket team member Penny Phane at the Birmingham offices of City & Guilds, accompanied by the College's head of bakery Dawn Gemmell.
The judges said Nicole was "clearly an excellent student, demonstrating very good practical skills in product development, and providing an excellent role model to fellow students on the Bakery NVQ level 3 course."
Dawn was delighted by her former student’s success.
She said: "There were students there from all sorts of different subjects, but Nicole was the only winner from a bakery course.
"She was a really nice girl with very good practical skills and an excellent standard of work and attendance, who really deserves this award."
Nicole also won several other prizes when she was at the College, including a certificate at the Sugar Craft Show and an award for services to the College at our own presentation evening last year.
